Created by Alley Cat Allies a decade ago, National Feral Cat Day is a opportunity to promote humane care for feral cats through awareness and education. Each year one day is designated for this special effort, however, many organizations like Alley Cat Allies, Stray Cat Alliance, and Alley Cat Rescue work year round advocating for feral, stray and abandoned cats, so really everyday could be National Feral Cat Day!
National Feral Cat Day 2012 will be held on Tuesday, October 16. Alley Cat Allies provides tons of useful resources to help you participate in NFCD. Visit the official NFCD section on the ACA website to find links to the following:
- A list of events scheduled for NFCD – you can still register your event!
- Get ideas for planning an event in your area.
- Download resources and materials to help spread the word about the humane care of feral cats.
- Check out the winners of the 2012 Community Impact Awards.
You can also purchase official NFCD 2012 merchandise including t-shirts, mugs, buttons, and posters.
We’ll have several special posts over the next few days leading up to National Feral Cat Day. What will you be doing to mark the occasion?
